The Artisans of Rebellion

“The Artisans of Rebellion: Biographies of My Sudanese Artist Friends”,  is a compilation of texts about the artist friends of Dr. Hassan Musa, a renowned artist and writer, all written over the past two decades, most of which were published in the Democratic Dialogue Forum on the Sudan for All website – sudanforall.org. Dr. Musa says: “My artist friends in Sudan are more numerous than this inspiring constellation. Some of them I save for future writings, some whose contributions are difficult to encompass through the medium of writing, and some who are beyond the scope of the book, and, it has been said, beyond the scope of writing itself. My consolation lies in the fact that these texts here serve as an optimistic introduction, promising a return to this unique biography, the biography of the women and men who elevated rebellion to a symbol of beauty and created a history for modern art that honors the people of Sudan.”
