Jahannam

Jahannam Newspaper is an independent, experimental publication founded in 1996 by Sudanese artist Hassan Musa. Initially circulated in print through fax and later email among a network of friends in exile, it functioned as a platform for critical dialogue at a time when free public forums were scarce. Described as a “Newspaper of Critical Deconstruction and Opposition,” it embraces subjective opinion, debate, and dissent as essential to creativity and truth. After ceasing in 2005, Jahannam has recently been revived in digital form on Facebook, continuing its ethos of informal, community-driven exchange and its commitment to critique as a necessary condition for cultural and intellectual life.
