Biography

Yasmeen is a Sudanese visual artist born in 1992 in Qatar, currently residing in Muscat, Oman. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in painting from the Sudan University College of Fine and Applied Arts in 2014. Her work delves into emotional and spiritual themes, often focusing on identity, resilience, and the human connection with nature and self.

Influenced by her personal journey and diverse cultural experiences in Qatar, Sudan, and Oman, Yasmeen’s art combines elements of light, shadow, nature, and interiority. A pivotal moment in her artistic path was witnessing the trauma of war, which inspired her exhibition “Soulscape,” exploring displacement, memory, and spiritual endurance.

Yasmeen employs an intuitive and meditative creative process. Starting with abstract layers, she allows forms and figures to emerge organically, anchoring her work around these central motifs. This method fosters a spontaneous, emotionally resonant expression, turning each piece into a reflective dreamscape.

She has held solo exhibitions including:

  • “Soulscapes” at Feel Expression Gallery, Oman (2024)
  • “The Other Me” at The French Institute, Khartoum (2019)

Her participation in numerous group exhibitions spans Sudan and international venues, including:

  • The French Institute, Spanish Embassy, USA Embassy (Sudan)
  • Art Bank Gallery (China), CFHILL Gallery (Sweden), AFA Gallery (Ethiopia, UK), Karim Francis Gallery (Egypt), Broteria Gallery (Portugal), CASA ARABE (Spain), and Melike Bilir Gallery (Germany).

Through her evolving body of work, Yasmeen aims to connect with the shared human experience, inviting viewers into introspective, interconnected, and dreamlike realms.
