Biography

Reem Ibrahim Abu Alfotouh was born in Khartoum, Sudan in September 1977, and currently resides in the UAE. She received her education from the Sudan University of Science and Technology graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from the College of Fine and Applied Arts, Department of Sculpture. She has also received a Higher Diploma in Folklore from the Institute of African and Asian Studies, University of Khartoum. Reem’s professional experience expands between working as an art teacher in some schools in Khartoum, an Interior designer, and an artist of Drawing and colouring stained glass. Her artistic interests include Sculpture, Drawing with inks (illustration), Glass tinting and Agricultural inspired works and ornamental plants.

Through her work, Reem aims to spread Sudanese culture and promote Sudanese art towards internationalism, discuss issues related to preserving heritage and identity, and focus on the female element and its role in Sudanese plastic art. She is a member at the Sudanese Plastic Artists Union, Sudan Woman Artists House, and the Network of Influential Women.
