Biography

Rayan Khalil is a celebrated visual artist renowned for her masterful use of acrylics and watercolours. Born in Portsudan, Sudan. Growing up in both Moscow and Khartoum, she discovered her passion for art at an early age, she then integrated diverse backgrounds and cultures into her art. Her formal education was in architecture, which is indeed an art form in its own right.

Rayan holds a master’s degree in architecture (University of Khartoum), and an art diploma from the Khartoum Arts Center, where she refined her skills under the guidance of esteemed artist mentors. There, she developed the ability to capture the essence of her subjects, whether it be the delicate interplay of light and shadow in a portrait or the intricate details of a still life.

During and after her studies, she established a unique style that blends realism with abstract elements, creating works that are both visually striking and emotionally resonant. Her work is strongly inspired by her interest in Sudanese culture and contemporary art approaches. Her education also included specialized training in both graphite and watercolour techniques, allowing her to explore the full potential of these mediums.
