Biography

Sara Hassan Albadri Alsheikh is a Sudanese visual artist born in Omdurman. She graduated from the College of Fine and Applied Arts at the Sudan University of Science and Technology in 1997, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Ceramics. Sarah has dedicated a significant portion of her career to early childhood education, working as a preschool teacher at Avinash Academy School.

Throughout her professional journey, Sara has accumulated a wealth of experience in various fields. She began her career as a graphic designer at Sharif Graphic Company and later worked at Akkam Modern Art Company. From 1999 to 2005, she was involved in designing and executing advertising campaigns for the Khartoum International Fair. In addition to her work in design, Sara has contributed to community development as a volunteer trainer. In 2002, she worked with the Development Support Organization (DAN) in the Kilk Lake area of South Kordofan, and in 2005, she volunteered with the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in Rashad Province, teaching ceramic manufacturing techniques as part of sustainable development programs.

Sara is an active participant in workshops and exhibitions, both locally and internationally. She has conducted and participated in numerous workshops, including a painting workshop at the Family Club during the Fourth Culture Festival in Khartoum (1998), a ceramic and glass techniques workshop at the College of Fine Arts in collaboration with the French Institute (1998), and workshops with the Sudanese Environmental Conservation Society (1999), the French Institute (2000), and the Goethe Institute  (2004). She has also collaborated with the Sudanese Women Artists Group on workshops sponsored by the United Nations and the National Anti-Drug Authority, as well as with the French Institute.

She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including the First Women’s Creativity Festival (1997), the Graduation Exhibition at Friendship Hall (1997), and exhibitions at the Libyan Cultural Center (1997), the Sudan National Museum (1997), and the British Council’s 50th Anniversary in Sudan (1998). She has also exhibited at the Hilton Hotel (2000), the Sudan National Museum (2001), the French Institute and Goethe Institute (2003). Internationally, her work has been showcased in Cairo (2001, 2002), Addis Ababa (2004), and Tlemcen, Algeria, during the Sudanese Cultural Week (2011).

From 2017 to 2025, Sara has been actively involved in exhibitions with the Sudanese Women Artists Group, including virtual exhibitions and displays at cultural centers, private galleries, and museums. Her recent work has focused on themes of war, with exhibitions such as “Days of War” (2024-2025), “The Horrors of War” (2024), and a virtual exhibition sponsored by the General Union of Sudanese Artists (2024).
