Biography

Usra Hamza (born in Khartoum, 1992) is a self-taught Sudanese artist who began her artistic journey in 2014 as a means of self-discovery and expressing complex emotions. She employs mixed media to create works that reflect her inner dialogue with the world, blending bold lines with deep colours. For her, art is an act of liberation—a space for honesty and vulnerability, where the intangible transforms into visual forms that capture the essence of human experience.

Usra has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including the 2024 Abu Dhabi International Boat Show at ADNEC Marina, DiarBid Art House, UAE; the 2023 Surfacing Group Exhibition at Xenson Art Space, Uganda; the 2023 World Art Dubai by Mojo Gallery in the UAE; and the 2023 Unusual Stories Online Group Show at Tewa Art Gallery, Kenya. She also took part in the 2023 International Women’s Day Exhibition at Elsireara Women Platform, Sudan; the 2022 Identity of Soul exhibition at the Institut Français Régional du Soudan, Sudan; and the 2022 It Starts with You exhibition at Downtown Gallery, Sudan. Her earlier participations include the 2021 Salon des Créateurs at the Institut Français Régional du Soudan, Sudan; the 2021 Into the Gallery exhibition at Bait Alnisa, Sudan; and the 2021 Khali Dawa exhibition at Downtown Gallery, Sudan.
