Suzan Ibrahim Mahjoub Mohammed

Biography

Suzan holds a PhD in Painting from Sudan University of Science and Technology and a Master’s degree in Folklore from the Institute of African and Asian Studies. She graduated from the College of Fine and Applied Arts (Painting Department) in 1996. She has worked as a lecturer at the College of Arts, Drama, and Music at the University of Juba and at Shaqra University in Saudi Arabia. She is currently an Assistant Professor and Head of the Art Education Department at the Faculty of Education, University of Khartoum.

Suzan has participated in more than 35 group exhibitions inside and outside Sudan, as well as numerous art workshops. She has also held four solo exhibitions in Khartoum. Her work is inspired by all aspects of humanity and human interactions with spatial environments and natural surroundings. She is particularly interested in reflecting Sudan’s rich cultural diversity and exploring various representations of women, depicting them from social, cultural, and political perspectives.
